  1. BASE2   
  2. The CLARION Filer is used to create new files and to
  3. convert existing files to a new record layout
  4. Label
  5. : Enter the label of the FILE statement.  Press Enter with
  6. no label specified  to display a pop-up of FILE structures
  7. in the given source file.
  8. Source File: Enter the source file containing the FILE definition. Valid
  9. DOS wildcard characters are accepted.
  10. Press Enter for more help or Esc to return to Filer
  11. BASE3   
  12. Input file: Enter the file name to be converted.  Leave this
  13. line blank to create a new (empty) data file.
  14. Output file: Enter the name of the new file. Press Enter
  15. with no file name to display a pop-up of
  16. available files.
  17. Press Enter for more help or Esc to return to Filer
  18.  FILER   
  19. Filer can be used to convert the data in any field from the
  20. Input File to any field in the Output File.*
  21. Output Field: These are the field names from the source file definition.
  22.  Input  Field: These are the field names from the data file header.
  23. *Refer to Chapter 8 of the Utilities Guide for more details.
  24. To change the input field, select the output field, and press Enter.
  25. Select 'New Field' to clear a field's data.

  78. The field selection window is used to change the way fields  
  79. are matched.  Use the cursor keys to scroll through the
  80. fields in the window.  When the selection bar is located
  81. on the correct data field, press Enter to insert that label  
  82. in the data file half of the field matching area.
  83. Above the first field label, you'll see a label called
  84. "(new field)."  If you add a new field to your FILE structure
  85. and then match up that field with "New field," any data in
  86. that field will be erased.  You can also use "New field" to  
  87. erase all of the data in a particular field.
