- BASE2
- The CLARION Filer is used to create new files and to
- convert existing files to a new record layout
- Label
- : Enter the label of the FILE statement. Press Enter with
- no label specified to display a pop-up of FILE structures
- in the given source file.
- Source File: Enter the source file containing the FILE definition. Valid
- DOS wildcard characters are accepted.
- Press Enter for more help or Esc to return to Filer
- BASE3
- Input file: Enter the file name to be converted. Leave this
- line blank to create a new (empty) data file.
- Output file: Enter the name of the new file. Press Enter
- with no file name to display a pop-up of
- available files.
- Press Enter for more help or Esc to return to Filer
- FILER
- Filer can be used to convert the data in any field from the
- Input File to any field in the Output File.*
- Output Field: These are the field names from the source file definition.
- Input Field: These are the field names from the data file header.
- *Refer to Chapter 8 of the Utilities Guide for more details.
- To change the input field, select the output field, and press Enter.
- Select 'New Field' to clear a field's data.
- Press Enter for help menu or Esc to return to Filer

- Up or Cursor Down to see more messages.

- The field selection window is used to change the way fields
- are matched. Use the cursor keys to scroll through the
- fields in the window. When the selection bar is located
- on the correct data field, press Enter to insert that label
- in the data file half of the field matching area.
- Above the first field label, you'll see a label called
- "(new field)." If you add a new field to your FILE structure
- and then match up that field with "New field," any data in
- that field will be erased. You can also use "New field" to
- erase all of the data in a particular field.
- Press Enter for help menu or Esc to return to Filer
